Our Half-Day Adventure gives you approximately 3 hours on the water to paddle beneath towering cypress trees, travel through quiet waterways and watch for the wildlife that calls the refuge home.

Our Half Day Okefenokee Adventure is designed for recreational paddlers and adventurous beginners. We keep our groups small, provide instruction before launching and travel at a comfortable pace so you can fully enjoy the experience.

No. This trip is beginner friendly and you do not need previous kayaking experience. We provide basic paddling instruction and a safety briefing before launching, then travel at a comfortable recreational pace throughout the day.

Plan for approximately three hours on the water with breaks along the way. You do not need to be an athlete, but you should be comfortable sitting in a kayak and paddling for an extended period. If you are unsure whether the half day trip is right for you, contact us and we are happy to help.

Wear comfortable, quick drying clothing appropriate for the weather. We recommend sun protection, sunglasses, closed toe or secure water shoes, personal medications and any small personal items you may want during the trip. We provide your kayak, paddle, PFD, dry bag, water, light snacks and required paddling equipment.

Wildlife sightings can never be guaranteed, but the Okefenokee is home to alligators, birds, turtles and many other species. One of the best parts of a slow, relaxed pace is that we get to experience all the wildlife the refuge has to offer.

This trip launches from Okefenokee State Park, formerly Stephen C. Foster State Park at 9:30AM.
Registered guests will receive detailed meeting information and trip preparation instructions before their adventure.

Light rain does not automatically cancel a trip. We monitor conditions closely and will not paddle when weather or water conditions are considered unsafe. If Driftwood Paddling Tours cancels your trip because of unsafe conditions, you will be given the option to reschedule or receive a refund.

Full day adventures are intentionally kept small, with a maximum of six guests. This allows us to provide more personal instruction and maintain a relaxed pace on the water.

Restroom facilities are available at the park before and after the paddle. Once we are out in the refuge, facilities may be limited, so we recommend using the restroom before launching.
